Hello, my name is Jennifer Houlden. I am Canadian, a nurse by profession and live with my husband and 3 animals in the magnificent Ontario township of Oro-Medonte. I am extremely passionate about quilting, teaching and designing. One day, long after the first quilt I had made for my niece at the age of 12, I was reintroduced to quilt making. A new shop had opened up in Yellowknife, NT, Canada and I decided I was going to learn how to quilt.

Art has always been part of my life in one form or another. My mother was an artist and always encouraged my artistic endeavours. Back in the ’70s and ’80s, it was drawing, crochet, and needlepoint. In the last ten or so years, I have become involved in painting, pen & ink, and beading, but I always look for ways to integrate several of these art forms together, hence my interest in using painting and fibers in jewelry making.

You have reached the blog of designer Marlene Biles located in Manitoba Canada. Sipiweske Quilt Designs was founded in 2003 and currently includes 32 paper pieced patterns available under that name. I am currently revamping and hope to add more pieced and applique patterns in the future.Everyone asks about the name "Sipiweske"! I guess the quickest explanation is that it was the original name of Wawanesa, Manitoba and is locally interpreted as "Light Through The Trees".Visit my blog http://sipiweskequilts.blogspot.ca/p/welcome.html

Who's La Vonne you ask? Angela is, and that would be me. So why the two names? Well that's a long story. I believe it had something to do with my parents not being able to decide on which name, so I'm called by both names. I've always been called La Vonne by close family and friends, I might have been 7 or 8 before I knew who Angela was! I consider myself a knit/crochet designer, the pieces I create usually combine both Knit and Crochet. But for right now until I update it's only crochet. If you go to my old site you can read more about me and mine (family). Enjoy!
